What is an area or street light?
An area light emits light from a defined surface rather than a single point like a spotlight. The resulting light creates soft shadows and a more realistic lighting effect, which minimises harsh shadows and produces even lighting across the ground.
Area lights are used where high-powered lighting is required: sports stadiums, parking lots, tennis courts and similar spaces. The lights have adjustable beam angles to cover different parts of a field.
