Stand in the doorway so you get the ceiling and two walls in frame. A phone photo is all it needs, and it never leaves your phone.

Say what the room is

Kitchen, living, bedroom and so on. Light Lab puts the right fittings in the right places for you, already turned on.

Before you start

Does my photo get uploaded anywhere?

No. Light Lab runs entirely on your own phone or computer and the photo never leaves it. The only time anything is sent is if you fill in the form at the end and press send, and then it is a small preview picture of the room with the lights on, so we can see what you are after.

Do I have to place the lights myself?

No. Tell it what the room is and it lights the room for you. If you want to move something, drag it on the photo, and everything else is under Adjust it yourself.

How accurate is it?

It is an impression of the light, not a photometric simulation. What it gets right is the relative width of the beam from each fitting at your ceiling height, roughly where the light lands, and how warm or cool it reads. What it cannot know is your wall colours, your windows or your furniture. Use it to judge the look and let your electrician confirm the layout.

Why does the room go dark when I turn the lights on?

Because that is when you would have them on. A photo taken in daylight tells you nothing about what a fitting does, so Light Lab drops the room to evening first and then adds the light back. Under Adjust it yourself you can set how dark it goes.

What is the difference between this and the layout planner?

Light Lab is for the look. The layout planner is for the job: you load a floor plan, set a real scale, and it counts and spaces the fittings properly and gives you a schedule your electrician can work from. Most people use Light Lab first to decide what they want, then the planner to lay it out.

Are the prices real?

Yes. Every fitting, price and photo comes from the live Greenhse catalogue, the same source the rest of the website uses. Prices are shown excluding GST, with the GST added in your list. Anything sold per metre is marked, and we quote the run length with you.
